Fishing . . . A universal favorite pastime, from the first drop of the hook during annual spring opener events to the very last day of the season. Siren area lakes are renowned for some of the best fishing in the country. Check out the Burnett County website for more information.

Birding . . . Within the Siren natural area and at nearby Crex Meadows, delight in the numerous species of birds from the migratory Sandhill Crane flocks to the summer Canadian Geese inhabitants which can be seen in the seclusions of Siren’s lakes and surrounding wildlife areas.

Siren National Golf Course . . . A true delight offering 7,000 yards of challenge (par 72) on one of the most beautiful courses in the Upper Midwest. This championship course has 18 unique and challenging holes, in addition to a driving range, practice greens and bunker.

Hidden treasures . . . Great finds are plentiful for those who enjoy the hunt of antiquing. Several local antique shops are within close, easy driving distance, making Siren the perfect central spot to plan your excursions.

Scrapbooking Retreats . . . A wonderful way to spend a spring weekend – also fall or winter, too – when the days have not yet warmed to entice you outdoors.  Check out Making Memories and More Retreats

Have you heard . . .
More than 270 species of birds have been observed at Crex Meadows Wildlife Area.

SPRING WEEKEND ITINERARY

Friday:
After arrival, pick up a Siren Tour Map & then pick from Siren’s many Fish Fry dining options to experience the traditional Friday night dinner of choice here in the Wisconsin north woods. Unwind & plan your trip along Tour 1, Sites & Savouries, for the next morning, as you enjoy a great meal.
If time, even take in a movie at Timbers Theatres multiplex.

Saturday:
Before you begin your driving tour, stop by Main Street Cafe for their ‘plate-size pancakes’ & steaming hot coffee.
Then hop into your car to begin your loop through some absolutely gorgeous birding country as you meander to Crex Meadows Wildlife Area.
On your way back, you’ll stop at the Burnett Dairy Cheese Store where you can either sample a gourmet sandwich or choose from their award-winning cheeses, Smoland Inn Breads, and great selection of wines to create your own picnic.
In the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely time fishing, shopping, or antiquing right in the Siren area.  If you’re open to a little more driving, the St. Croix Casino is just up the road in Danbury.
For dinner tonight, you may want to consider our fine dining choice, Tesora, for a superb meal and ambiance.

Sunday:
Wake refreshed and stroll to the Chattering Squirrel for the coffee of your choice to wake up to and a delicious breakfast pastry.
Then, it’s time to hit the links.  Siren National Golf Course offers a rewarding outing to the veteran & beginner golfer alike.  Mature pine & hardwood forests line bentgrass fairways & greens.
For lunch, stop at The Woodshed for a wood-fired pizza.
Leave time for some last minute excursions to Siren’s boutique stores & antique shops, if you missed them on Saturday.
